A lot of people have mentioned that it is simply a cardboard box and that is true. And I have loads of old Amazon boxes around. But this product fills a need! I have taken those boxes and removed all tape and labels but maybe it’s not a great size, etc. With these, the size is standard and it’s more or less ready to go once you fold it and tape it. One less little headache in your day! Mine did come with the paper tape. I spent no small amount of time trying to peel one side away from the other and then saw a question answered about it being water-activated. Then it worked! But you don’t need it if you have tucked the four flaps in; then you have your roof. I can do without the pop-out guinea pig heads and the one with a twine that can ‘climb’ up the side, and I’m not especially interested in the guinea pig art with their names, although I am sure these are wonderful guineas. �� It would be nice if the design were improved so that the ceiling part could be slotted together rather than taped, and maybe it already does, and I couldn’t figure it out. So that the floor of the house doesn’t get wet and soiled, I just folded the cardboard the other way so that they sit outside the house. Yes, this is something you could make yourself. I like the convenience and will definitely use the three that came, and then will decide if I want any more.
